Congratulations to Maryland Educators members, students, families, and allies! 🎉 Yesterday, HB785—the Freedom to Read Act—was signed into law by Governor Wes Moore, requiring a review process of any book ban requests and protections for involved educators.

An incredibly important step in the right direction to provide our students with the filling, nutritious meals that that they need in order to thrive inside the classroom and out. And we will continue advocating for healthy meals and high nutrition standards.

Arming teachers is not the solution.

We know what actually works: universal background checks, red flag laws, safe storage, and an assault weapons ban.

What a joyful experience to explore the AP course on African-American history with Antoinette Dempsey-Waters. Not only does she teach the class in VA, she helped develop the curriculum!
