Great to see the federal budget include funding to support the legacy of residential schools. At the NCTR, we remain dedicated to finding missing children through research, supporting Survivors, and educating the public about residential schools.

We were delighted to welcome Anishinaabe artist and quiltmaker Alice Williams to the Centre! Alice donated four of her quilts to the TRC and they were exhibited during the closing ceremony and release of the final report in 2015. Today, her quilts are protected and kept safe.

Today we acknowledge the rich and diverse heritage of the Indigenous languages spoken across the country. Our languages are invaluable to Indigenous identity and we must ensure they are protected and passed on to the next generations.
