I've dreamt of touring with my dear Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, so performing #Shostakovich8 & #Beethoven with Emanuel Ax and this incredible group of musicians as part of my residency at the Musikverein Wien was a memorable experience. Thank you to the Vienna audience for the warmest welcome!

Was it coincidence or fate? Johannes Brahms saw the light of day exactly nine years to the day after the premiere of Beethoven’s IXth - 191 years ago today. Brahms, an avid collector, owned a sheet of sketches for Beethoven’s IXth, which is now kept in our archive.

The word ‘joy’ is currently on everyone's lips at the Musikverein 🤩After the fantastic performances at the weekend with the Vienna Philharmonic under Maestro Riccardo Muti, we are looking forward to the grand finale of the anniversary concerts with Beethoven's Ninth ✨

Yesterday we experienced a fabulous concert with Igor Levit, Renaud Capuçon and Julia Hagen, who performed Brahms’ Piano Trios Nos. 1-3 in the Golden Hall. The concert also marked the end of our focus on “Brahms | Levit”, which has accompanied us throughout the season 🤩

On 12 May, our “Artist in Focus” Karina Canellakis will conduct the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest in the Great Hall. They will be performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 2 and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 8. We look forward to Emanuel Ax on the piano!🎹🎶
