This is so bad. We have just gotten list of amendments to be included in bill NOT from our R colleagues, but from lobbyists downtown. None of us have seen this list, but lobbyists have it. Need I say more? Disgusting. And we probably will not even be given time to read them.

I’ve long believed in and written about “due process of lawmaking.” Subjecting people to a tax law not even written when voted for is anything but. It’s akin to taxation without representation. As I recall, we fought a revolution to resist just that kind of undemocratic exaction.

I’m furious, but this fight is not over. In the days and weeks to come, I’ll do everything I possibly can to ensure this embarrassment of a tax bill never becomes law.

Breaking: CONGRESS HAS NOT PASSED A TAX BILL YET. House & Senate passed 2 different bills. Nothing to send to president yet. This is half time. Plenty of bills have gotten this far and never become law.

Responding “higher” is hard. I struggle with it every day. I’ve learned from my parents, from the cycles of hate and violence I see in the world, and from my own errors that peace can only be achieved through peaceful means. But remember: True peace includes justice.
