The Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy (MICDE), Mr. Eliud Owalo has made a site visit to Nia Fiber Group Limited located in Athi River, Machakos County.

In his presentation, the General Manager, Nia Fiber Group Limited, Mr. Muzammal Mehmood stated that presently, the company has produced and delivered more than 12,000 cable kms for various firms and approximately 30% cables were exported to 10 African countries.

The Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, Mr. Eliud Owalo has received a Sh20,000,000 cheque from Safaricom for the facilitation of the Connected Africa Summit 2024, which is being organised by ICT Authority (ICTA).

The CS appreciated the sponsorship from Safaricom emphasizing that it will play a significant role in financing of the upcoming Summit.

CS Owalo appreciated the outstanding contribution of the Aga Khan Development Network to development across the region for several decades, further noting that digital transformation is essential for driving the social and economic development of East African region and Africa.
