A story we should be embarrassed about as a nation. Sending children to schools so cold that they can barely write because they are shivering so badly and need to wear coats, hats and gloves. This is why the healthy building issue is so, so important.

Have you read the healthy building design guide that we wrote for RICS yet? Work in Mind have done a lovely summary of it here workinmind.org/2023/11/08/pro….

This is absolutely disgraceful.

There are nearly 1 MILLION dilapidated homes in the UK - and UK Prime Minister will only commit to sorting out half of these by 2030.

We can and must do better.

What we predicted would happen, is happening.

Despite there being around 6 times as many homelessness-related deaths than fire-related deaths every year, affordable housing looks like it's going to be hit hard by the second staircase rule.

This is an absolute joke - although with what this government has been doing recently, not unsurprising.

It's why we as an industry need to look ever more closely at what we're building, and it's why we created tools like the Ekkist Healthy Homes Checklist.

Exciting to be speaking at IWBI’s London Summit today - a sellout event, demonstrating just how much appetite there is to create healthier buildings here in the UK.

Thrilled to be speaking at the IWBI Regional Summit about the new WELL Residential pilot, which we at Ekkist are very excited to be involved with.

Creating healthier homes is one of our key goals, and we believe that this tool will play a vital role in that mission.

How are we supposed to explain to our children that, while the world burned, the politicians just kept watering down their green policies and going back on their promises?

No wonder Just Stop Oil and others feel extreme measures are necessary.

Weird the stuff the British public gets obsessed over isn't it?

Never this many signatures to try to save the planet, but propose drivers slow down...

This is such great news. Yes we need new homes, but NOT at the expense of the environment.

If we don't take care of the environment, we have nothing.

This sadly paints a very bleak picture of working in architecture today - but probably one lots can empathise with.

'I can’t sustain the idea that I’m adding value when I’m not even valuable myself.'

How did we get here?

It's almost like decades of 'cost' being the number one concern across the construction industry wasn't a brilliant approach.

It's genuinely hilarious to me that people are getting angry about ULEZ.

Firstly, when did 'the right' become supporters of pollution?

Secondly, protesting about a man who wants to cut emissions is like the dinosaurs protesting against a T-Rex who wants to stop the asteroid.

Within a few days Rishi Sunak UK Prime Minister announces he wants to drill for more gas and challenge LTNs, while his party tries to block ULEZ - all against a backdrop of forest fires, heatwaves, and 'Global Boiling'.

We're like dinosaurs cheering on the asteroid right now.

We're now living in a world where for most people a day's pay doesn't cover: a day's rent + a day's bills + a day's food + the daily fraction of all the other basic life costs (clothing, childcare, car costs - even haircuts & toiletries).

And most boomers still don't get this.
