One of my fave locked accounts has been messaging me about the decline in Tory vote share:

'We don't make enough of the overall big trend line. With blips like Truss aside... The current default is dropping roughly half a percent each month, so the default is not neutral'

With the doctrinaire freemarketeers of the IEA lining up behind Badenoch as Truss Mk II, and with Badenoch basing her pitch on historical denialism, we’re going to see this question posed again and again:

“Would Britain’s Industrial Revolution have happened without slavery?”

Nonsense, Tories cut 800 libraries, 1340 sure start centres, 600 police stations, 600 swimming pools, 4,500 youth work jobs have been cut and 750 youth centres closed, 700 football pitches Council funding cut by £11.3 billion. Sunak LIES LIES and LIES

Before you vote today it’s worth remembering this.

Conservatives would starve 100 children because one might not be hungry

Labour would feed 100 because one may be.

There is a difference.

This is the 1st time the Standard has endorsed a Labour candidate for Mayor of London (and I've covered every mayoral election since Ken Livingstone won in 2000).

It looks bad for 2024.

But look at 2025. We're projected to have the worst-performing economy in the G20, with the same level of growth as a heavily-sanctioned, warring Russia.

Not a word from the Conservative Party about racism in Facebook groups with links to Tories, but one tweet calling out their shocking conduct and they’re up in arms.

As for deep trouble, Liz, look at the damage your short-lived premiership did to our country. You are shameless.

With one tweet, @WesStreeting has seemingly rattled the entire RW. Truth hurts doesn’t it? It’s okay for them to be racist, divisive and nasty but god forbid you describe them for what they actually are

The Conservative party hits a new low of 18% with YouGov.

If repeated at a general election, they would fall to just 32 MPs, with even Rishi Sunak losing his seat

The rising disability bill is not down to duplicitous claimants, but widespread and disastrous cuts that have left our mental health services emaciated and failing.

Sending the first 300 migrants to Rwanda costs £1.8m each. To put that in context, school funding is around £7,600 per child per year. So the cost of sending one migrant to Rwanda would get 234 children education for a year. Is that a good use of money?

Todays YouGov with Cons at 18% gives me the opportunity to reshare this I wrote for the Standard last month.

In any other circumstances the leader would be toast. But public aren’t fussed about another Con leader change - they seem to just a new govt.

Many on the far left are homophobic.

Their unequivocal support and defence of homophobe George Galloway confirms this.
