The government have made substantial meaningful changes. The introduction of the Regulation (EU) No 305/201 mandated the use of Harmonised European Standards, leading to block strength increase (I.S. EN 771-3), and aggregate testing to I.S. EN 12620:2002+A1:2008.
johnking Regulations are meaningless unless you ensure they are effectively enforced - Govt has made no substantive changes in this regard. The system is still based on self-regulation and the Head of the NBCO has declared a national emergency with regard to construction regulation.
Mica RedressMAG Similar with EN12620, introduced in 2003 but not mandated until 2013. The co-existence period for each standard is agreed between the member state and EU.
Mica RedressMAG This would all have been negotiated with the EU. All harmonised European standards were eventually mandated with the EU No 305/201 in 2013.
johnkingMAG OK so EU just gave Ireland preferential treatment and said batter away for another few election cycles on your own regulations
But let's say EU did OK this. Why would Irish Govt explicitly defer improved building standards. Your argument is they explicitly chose to delay en771-3
