They visited the site of the crime -- a barren patch of woods off Wallisville Road that hadn't changed much in 40 years; then Harris County's pauper cemetery. Donna, now 80, told me she was worried that she'd die before she was able to find Holly.

As we now know, state investigators were feverishly working to track down Holly. And then, weeks later, on what would have been Dean's 63rd birthday, they found her! SHE. IS. ALIVE!! In Oklahoma!!!

Hours later, THIS PAST TUESDAY, they were all on a Zoom. The last time Donna saw her, she was just an infant. Now, she's a mom to five kids and a has two very young grandchildren.

A lot of adoptees are finding their birth families on these sites, btw. There's an option to allow contact from people who share your DNA.
