You can't run universities like businesses. Not because of an ideological reason, but because universities don't work like businesses.

Is there anything to be said for NOT building 3rd terminal at Dublin Airport & putting more flights through Cork, Shannon & Ireland West? Y'kno - for the 3m who DON'T live in the Greater Dublin Area ?

At work today I had to explain to some colleagues that I didn’t write anything in English until I went to university. It is very much my second language I was not taught English grammar and work hard every day in my writing. This level of ignorance is exhausting.

Two men, shaking hands over a shared 'hatred' of the Irish language in front of (i)a woman who is learning the language again, and (ii)a native speaker, living in a Gaeltacht area and raising her children through Irish Would this be acceptable behaviour for any other minority?

"Decolonizing language education" will be published soon in The Encyclopedia of Applied Linguistics. "Decolonizing language education is not just a political issue, but rather a question of basic and fundamental human and linguistic rights, as underscored by UNDRIP.”

📯Small bit of news - the lovely people at The People's Museum of Limerick have been good/mad enough to put together an exhibition of my work, launching on Saturday 27th April at 5pm. There'll be light refreshments, doodles, and me having a nervous breakdown in a corner somewhere. All welcome!

The frequency of use of the word "unqualified" in student reviews of women teaching engineering is so high compared to that for both men and women in other disciplines that it barely fits on the graph. Lads, do you really think unqualified women get to teach tech at universities?

It's truly heartbreaking that so many people in this country are made to feel bad about their accent to the extent that they feel the need to change the way they speak to fit in more in the workplace or in academia. Accent discrimination needs to stop! edinburghlive.co.uk/news/edinburgh…
