My version of the 'don't make me tap the sign' moment from the Simpsons is this passage from a piece written by Jerusalem back in 2022.

When input costs and shortages increase for a given product, they are reflected in its listed market price - housing is no exception.

The NIMBYs know they are wrong, it’s why they only go after straw men and refuse to engage with the substance of the actual argument.

No one is proposing we ban single family homes. Upzoning allows for more options so it will no longer be exclusively single family homes.

Vancouver transit now carrying ~1.2m riders/day, in a metro area of ~2.6m.

Compare:
—Seattle transit: ~460k riders/day, in metro of 4 m
—Bay Area transit: ~900k riders/day, in metro of 4.6–9.5m, depending on how you count
—Chicago transit: ~1.1m riders/day, in metro of 9.6m

The Shape Stratford project has been such a cool way to proactively engage the community on density and upzoning - I've seen their ads on buses and social media, for instance. I think it's a really cool way to create awareness and build support for housing in a housing crisis.
