It’s a great day! All three FERC nominees were reported out of the ENR Committee this morning. The biggest news was probably Sen. Manchin’s closing (responding to Sen. Hawley’s objection to Lindsay See) that permitting bill text is drafted and he’s hoping to share it 🔜 …

#energytwitter U.S. Department of Energy NREL released their new report in the National Transmission Planning Study series, "Barriers and Opportunities To Realize the System Value of Interregional Transmission." It focuses on existing interregional Tx & is fascinating 🧵 nrel.gov/docs/fy24osti/…

Today we'll learn who is likely to sue FERC about Order No. 1920 (transmission planning rule) and what they'll likely argue in court. But we won't know FERC's chances of successfully defending itself for another 40+ days. Here's my scorecard for tracking today's filings:

In addition, this makes me wonder about the disconnect between trying to achieve (v laudable) corporate 24/7 clean energy goals through the same old parochial local/state utility planning paradigms instead of pushing for more economic regional and interregional planning. #1920

FERC moves to end utilities' clean energy tax -- FERC finds that allowing utilities to profit from transmission upgrades paid for by new generators may be unjust and unreasonable and unduly discriminatory. elibrary.ferc.gov/eLibrary/filel…
