We took an opportunity to meet different leaders regarding our candidate for Commonwealth Secretary general, Mr Joshua Setipa. We lobbied for their support and votes. Mr Setipa is a perfect candidate for this position given the hardworking nature of Basotho.

The Ambassador says African Union, through H.E Minata Samate Cessouma, AU Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development,has acknowledged His Majesty’s role,impact and dedication to the mandate,but most importantly,willingness to serve the people of Africa.

In March 2023, at a high-level event on nutrition financing held in the capital Maseru, His Majesty King Letsie III called on Leaders to put in place practical and sustainable financing mechanisms to deliver improved nutrition outcomes.

The African Union Assembly has resolved to extend His Majesty King Letsie III’s term as the African Union Nutrition Champion for the next two years. Lesotho Head of State has led the continental nutrition agenda since 2016.

Additionally, the summit underscored the importance of prioritizing healthcare and education. Recognizing the impact of global events, we discussed strategies to enhance healthcare infrastructure, vaccine accessibility, and educational opportunities to empower our youth.

In the realm of peace and security, we reaffirmed our dedication to resolving conflicts and promoting stability. Our collective efforts aim to strengthen peacekeeping initiatives, counter terrorism, and address the root causes of instability across the continent.

We focused on economic development, emphasizing inclusive growth and sustainable practices. Our commitment to regional integration was evident in discussions on trade partnerships, infrastructure projects, and collaborative efforts to address common challenges.
