🚨 Michael McCaul House Foreign Affairs Committee Majority was correct in saying that the SIV program is “vitally important.” Congress must provide a lifeline to our Afghan allies by continuing to support the SIV program and authorizing add’l visas in the FY24 funding bills.

Congress, we cannot turn our backs on those who stood by us in Afghanistan. Speaker Mike Johnson, Chuck Schumer, Leader McConnell, Hakeem Jeffries must support the authorization of additional visas in the Afghan SIV program to ensure our allies' safety.

Likely an unpopular opinion but POTUS should use the upcoming opportunity of Eid to host the American Muslim community and the community should show up, not for a speech but an overdue conversation. That’s more valuable and necessary for the country than a reception or a boycott.

Hopping on my flight back home after a whirlwind 1 day trip to DC fighting for Afghan allies.

I think we moved the needle, we will find out by how much when the bill text comes out this weekend.

For those wondering what this means.

First -- it doesn't mean anything is done...yet. The language still needs to be released AND it needs to path both houses. That said, this bill is a negotiated deal that SHOULD get through.

Second -- 12,000 isn't enough, but it's a start.

Our Afghan allies sacrificed everything to stand by our side in our nation's longest war. While there is more work to be done, the additional 12k SIVs that will hopefully be included in the forthcoming appropriations package will not only help our Afghan allies rebuild 1/2
