#WoodDuckWednesday … here’s a handsome Wood Duck hanging out on some tree roots on the bank of the marsh.

One thing that makes me so pleased when I go to observe the Great Blue Heron is that I see him getting fish and paying no mind to me. I like when I do not impose on the bird to make them too nervous or flush. He caught three fish while I was there and even fished close 2 me. Yay.

As I was watching the heron this weekend, the friendliest Robin dropped down out of the tree near me to say hello! Seems like a male with that dark head. So friendly!

A few shots of the colt from this weekend. So cute! At times he would get so tired trying to walk through the tall grass jungle, the colt would face plant in the dirt and raise up his little wings and flap them. Perhaps saying, why oh why can’t I fly yet?

Great Blue Heron was fishing on another windy day today. This time he figured out that the wind was pushing all the bigger-little fish to the other side of the area he was fishing in. He has never fished on the street side. It was a thrill to have him so close.

Sandhill Crane family yesterday. They took the colt to the other pond, hoping it wasn’t too far for the little one. Female, male, and colt.

Here’s one of Rufous, Sandhill Crane and now a parent. I got to see the crane family while out today. They made the colt walk to the other pond which is two blocks away. I heard other hatch dates now, the colt may be 9 days old. Pic from last week.
