Here’s current photos of the colt. I wasn’t ready when he flapped his wings, but it was really cute and you could see his pin feathers! When he flapped his wings, both parents flapped their wings to encourage him and let him know he’s doing the right things. It was lovely.

Here’s Rufous and Rupert in the tall vegetation they are keeping the colt in at the pond’s shore. The tall vegetation helps minimize bird predators having a good look or easy access to the colt. Makes photography more difficult, but he’s safer in taller grasses.

I was unhappy abt not seeing a heron today, but I’ll be looking for them this week as I have afternoons off the rest of this week. Didn’t spend much time out today, but great to get out!

Here’s one from last wk. This dude is a beaut. We had big storms, hope to find him this wk.

Got a late start today, but did get to see Rufous, Rupert, and colt. It’s been abt 9 days since I last saw the colt and oh my how it has grown. Big/huge like Rufous and beautiful face like Rupert. It has pin feathers and has abt doubled in size. Pics when I can.

Happy Memorial Day! My Dad was a decorated WWII vet, so remembering him today. Dad fought in the South Pacific Campaign and nearly lost his life there. Bronze Star recipient, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf. Shot by a sniper through the ankle. Most of his platoon died there.🙏

The darn Red-winged Blackbirds have been giving some beautiful views. Grateful.
