Thank you Mark C. Crowley . This gets it exactly right. In my programs I advocate using the language of excellence rather than perfection. You’ve added a key dimension. Perfectionism has an entirely different aim.

Do you have any in your or personal life that you've found to be really meaningful?

Please share one or more -- & how they work for you.

Full disclosure, my next guest (posting Saturday) just wrote a bestseller on rituals & why they're so powerful!

During the Great Resignation people who quit had many reasons, often that another employer induced them with a big pay raise.
Now, people who quit only get 4% more pay compared to workers who stay put.
So, when people quit today, it's to flee bad , not to get more $.

Mark C. Crowley Well said, although a lot of it seems internally driven rather than concern about being judged. This is especially the case with those on the autism spectrum.

Employee is a metric few Orgs ever took seriously or took meaningful actions to improve.
Clearly, this won't change.
But I believe Orgs will soon measure employee & will also take their scores very seriously.
Workplace will be forced to change.

My money's on Gen-Z!
What's gonna make leaders become more caring & supportive?
A study by Handshake finds incoming workers care less about brand recognition & more about their bosses’ character.
75% prefer to read an Org's employee reviews before applying.

Perfectionism is not driven by a healthy striving for excellence as much as it’s an effort to avoid the negative judgment of others.
The antidote is to become really self-secure.

What do Gen-Z college graduates want more than anything when applying for a job?
The same thing many orgs are showing they won't provide:

Per Fortune, job stability is the most important factor. Surprisingly, only 46% say
having a hybrid schedule matters.

It's far more thoughtful for a manager to send a message saying, 'Tom, can we chat today before you leave, because I want to go over some things before I go on vacation' than to simply say, 'Tom, can we chat today before you leave?'
People panic when unsure why you want 2C them.

Mark C. Crowley Also- how about requiring advance agendas so everyone knows what the point is and can be prepared to contribute something meaningful?

Mark C. Crowley I once heard a corporate head, looking out over the employee parking lot of people who actually risked their lives daily in their work, say, β€œThere are too many new cars!” He proceeded to fix the β€œproblem”. And yes, that is so very wrong.
