It's happening with more than insulin. "The suit also names pharmacy benefits managers (PBM) CVS Health, Express Scripts and OptumRx — and claims they collude to widen the gap between the manufacturer’s price and the selling price." wlrn.org/education/2024…

UHC releases list of CPT codes for gold card. I don’t see any of the top 10 utilized procedures in Orthopedics. No total joint arthroplasty. No knee scope. No shoulder scope. No spine. Not a real gold card but a good PR project. Only win - most MSK imaging is listed

😕I hope I'm not the only one with SERIOUS concerns about UnitedHealthcare's new #priorauthorization #GoldCard program... Is #UHC really lumping all eligible codes together so a practice may be granted an overall Y/N on GC status? Why not a Y/N GC for specific codes? uhcprovider.com/en/prior-auth-…

Study from Avalere shows how the 340B program continues to provide disproportionate benefit to the pharmacies who need it least. avalere.com/insights/pbm-m…

Adam Bruggeman, MD Agreed - it appears the codes are primarily related to OB/GYN, imaging, and various screening services. Far from a comprehensive list, and it appears this program will only benefit a few specialties…if it even helps those specialists in the long run…

In a comment letter, AMA states “CMS Needs to Reckon with the Impact of Declining Medicare Physician Payment.” “CMS must be fully transparent with the public about the impact of these payment cuts…” Access to care is in jeopardy. x.com/marilynheinemd…

Lots of great points in this thread about the impact of 5 consecutive years of Medicare physician payment cuts. Hopefully CMSGov will listen and be more honest with Congress about the impact of these cuts on patient access to physicians.

Medicare Advantage plans are making $$$ yet CMS is dropping payments to physicians. CMSGov stop paying the administrators and start paying the clinicians doing the real work
