It was a decade of cuts that got us into this mess, so further cuts can’t possibly get us out of it

All I want for Christmas is for this Government AND the Opposition to stop stringing us all along with half measures and commit to properly investing in childcare and early years education - kids would benefit, parents would benefit, our entire economy and society would benefit.

Just a little reminder that Government have spent more money on the failed Rwanda scheme than it did on domestic abuse refuges for women and children.

Shadow justice minister Afzal Khan has also called for a ceasefire: 'We need a full and humanitarian ceasefire now.'

He says his constituents have called for one and he 'will not refuse them'.

That makes three frontbenchers likely to lose their jobs so far, vote expected 7pm

Let's momentarily look past the objectionable premise of the Rwanda scheme. This is literally an admission that you spent £140m of public money on a scheme you knew not to be legal under the current system plus the legal fees you spent launching appeals.

Govt is planning welfare cuts whilst people are already living in poverty, they've already decimated public services and we're in the midst of a cost of living crisis.
