Yesterday, ESV and Make the Road Action hosted an Ice Cream Social at Kennedy Memorial Park in Hempstead. We provided sweet treats and discussed Rep. Anthony D’Esposito’s not so sweet voting record when it comes to education cuts. We urge him to stop voting to cut funding for local schools!
Hempstead kids and families are sharing their message with their Congress member Anthony P. D'Esposito : don’t defund our schools and future!
STATEMENT: In response to Rep. Anthony D’Esposito's support for the SAVE Act, our member Yehobani Villalobos said: “Yet again, extremist Republicans are lying about our elections to advance their political agenda, causing chaos to deter millions of eligible community members from voting."
STATEMENT: In response to President Joe Biden’s announcement that he will not seek a second term, our Theo Oshiro 🦋 said: “President Biden Biden made the right decision to step aside for the good of the country. The stakes for this election could not be higher…” Full statement👇
NOW: Long Island residents, including our members, alongside allies hold a rally at Long Beach boardwalk to call out Anthony P. D'Esposito vote to gut community water funding, as communities struggle to fund treatment facilities and experiences beach closures due to water contamination
Our member Yessenia Perez said: “Anthony P. D'Esposito voted to cut 25% of our community water funding. Simultaneously, he’s using immigrants as scapegoats, claiming we steal gov’t resources. He is WRONG; our labor helps keep this gov’t going. D’Esposito: stop playing political games.”
Democracy requires more than just voting to grow; it’s a commitment to a community of people invested in each other’s lives and liberation. Today Guardians of Democracy members from Make the Road NY 🦋 and New York Communities for Change unveil a public mural about collective liberation! #VotaPorMi
“Our members are excited. Harris is a woman of color, & a person who comes from an immigrant family. So they see their children or themselves in this candidate. They feel that she is someone who at least understands where we’re coming from.” - Theo Oshiro 🦋 theguardian.com/us-news/articl…
As proud endorsers of Kamala Harris for president, our members will fight to ensure that she's elected by: 🚪Knocking on 1 million doors; ☎️Calling 1.5 million voters; 📲Sending 1.3 million texts. This is our chance to shape the future our communities deserve. Let’s do it!
Thrilled to have Make the Road Action on team Harris-Walz! The work they’re doing to organize and train our gente is inspiring and truly game changing! We’re gonna do this together! 💃🏽
Immigrant, Latine & working-class voters of color will decide the outcome of this election. Our members will be working from now 'til election day to ensure we elect a president that we can hold accountable to improving our communities.✊ Kamala Harris: our members stand w/ you!
"Former President Trump and extremist politicians have promised mass deportations, the erosion of fundamental rights, and four more years of white supremacist ideology," said @MakeTheRoadAct's Theo Oshiro 🦋. commondreams.org/news/endorseme…
ICYMI: After interviews with more than 250 of our members, we have decided to support VP Kamala Harris in our first-ever general election presidential endorsement. Documented documentedny.com/2024/08/19/imm…
Yesterday, our members joined the Battleground New York campaign in Sleepy Hollow to call on Congressman Mike Lawler to stop blocking the Biden-Harris housing plan! Rep. Lawler refuses to support the plan to cap rent increases at 5%, building 200k new homes & providing $10k in mortgage relief.
Today on Long Island along w/ Empire State Voices, 1199SEIU💫, and New York Communities for Change, we rallied to highlight the harmful anti-union + anti-worker policies outlined in Project 2025. Rep. Anthony P. D'Esposito: disavow Project 2025 & fight for working families rather than billionaires & corporations.
Earlier today, unions, activists, and residents joined to bring attention to the anti-union and anti-middle-class policies of Project 2025. Huge shoutout to Make the Road Action, 1199SEIU💫, and New York Communities for Change for rallying dozens to demand that Rep. Anthony D’Esposito denounce this horrible agenda.
