The best progressive brains in the civil society and opposition were neutered through assimilation and cooption onto the gravy train from where they aggressively sought to control the 'radicals' still in the cold but equally covetous of the gravy train. This scuttled the dream.

The current aging generation of progressives had figured out exactly what was needed to achieve egalitarianism through good governance and economic distributive mechanisms. But the corrupt neoliberal forces of retrogression scuttled that dream through treacherous machinations

But there is hope. Through natural attrition, the stranglehold the KANU machine has on the socioeconomic and political destiny of Kenya will weaken. In a generation or two, the last vestiges of the KANU machine will be wobbling along to obsolescence due to wear and tear. Maybe!

Can the millennials and GenZ lot succeed in bringing change to Kenya. Not likely! The veterans of the struggle know that no current tiktoker, wash-wash, or social media clout chaser can grasp the intricacies of change that will make tangible benefits accrue to the masses. NO!

So, is the dream of a different dispensation in Kenya possible? I hazard to posit that that will never happen systematically. Superficially, yes, like the constitutional moment of 2010. The entrenched interests are so powerful, that they would hijack such a process and kill it!
