So after all of that studying, engagement, consultations etc. for the Canada Disability Benefit over the years,

The Liberal party chose to ignore all of it and solely propose a DTC linked benefit with only $6B in funding proposed for the first year?

What was the point in that?

IMO this announcement is just to get disabled people to pipe down.

Reality is there is no help coming this year for disabled people in Canada.

Reality is they are giving themselves another year to delay, with MAID being our only viable option forward currently.

Update on confusion RE: amount proposed. In the Budget it says that the proposed amount for the CDB is $2400/year.

This comes to $200/month.

If true, then that means disabled people in deep legislated poverty will remain there with the CDB.

This brings people with disabilities in Ontario to just over $1500 month to cover everything, if you get max benefits. Still under $500 a month less than able people got back 4 yrs ago with CERB. Prices are more unaffordable for food and housing now.

We can go once a month to our food bank. It's just sad the amount of people there in need and the lack of food available. Not nearly enough to last a month and almost no healthy produce.😞
