#CallOut 12/24

At 11:29 this morning, Lomond MRT were called to an accident at Craigmore Hill above Aberfoyle.

The caller reported her dog had fallen over a crag edge. Pleased to report the Border Terrier sustained nothing worse than a sheepish look from the fall 🐾😊

This weekend hundreds of people will take on the Highland Fling Race - an amazing 53 mile run from Milngavie, over Conic Hill and through the National Park to Tyndrum.

Yesterday saw the team refining and refreshing rope rescue techniques based on previous rescues ahead of the main summer season.

Conic Hill path will be closed Monday-Friday next week to accommodate helicopters lifting 450 bags of stone weighing around 1 tonne each. The closure is for the health and safety of walkers and contractors. The path is open this weekend and will re-open ahead of next weekend.

At 23:27 Friday evening, Lomond MRT were called to an individual suffering a knee injury on the West Highland Way to the south of Beinglas Campsite.

Many thanks to colleagues from Police Scotland for the initial response and assistance.

Our period of recent rescue inactivity has come to an end. The past week has presented a series of demanding callouts for our team's volunteers.
Our resources have been requested to undertake three rescue operations the #Crianlarich and #Tyndrum hills.

At 13:05 today, Lomond MRT were called to an individual suffering calf pain and unable to continue on Ben Venue.

After the initial assessment, it was decided that casualty was best transported off hill by stretcher and transferred to a team vehicle.

At 12:55 today, we were called to assist with an individual who had taken unwell on Conic Hill. After initial assessment, the individual was thankfully able to walk off with team members to the waiting ambulance for further checks.

At 13:28 yesterday afternoon, Lomond MRT were called to an individual who had fallen on Dumgoyne and had sustained a suspected broken ankle. Many thanks to colleagues in @scotambservice and @maritimecoastguard R199 for assistance.

At 12:01 on Monday, Lomond MRT were alerted by Police Scotland that an individual had fallen down a gully at Finnich Glen and was unable to get back out.

The exact location turned out to be a familiar part of the Devils Pulpit.

The Conic Hill path has been closed due to damage caused during Storm Isha. Severe winds brought down a large number of trees and many of these have fallen across the Conic Hill path. Further trees were uprooted and are now hanging on other trees, making it unsafe to pass. 🧵

As a Mountain Rescue Team, it's essential that we train in the worst weather conditions that we can be called to work in. Yesterday gave a window of opportunity before the worst of Storm Isha arrived.

At 16:10 this afternoon, Lomond MRT were called to a casualty who was suffering from exhaustion and extremely cold on Ben Venue.

After initial assessment and warming, the casualty was evacuated off the hill by stretcher.

Lomond MRT would like to wish all our friends, supporters, colleagues and especially our families all the best for the festive period.
