Of all the very well intentioned voices on housing issues, I rarely hear or see direct leadership from, and real engagement of, people who are UNhoused. I hope key policy and advocate groups are doing this…..if not, success is unlikely.

I’ve learned things this week thanks to my Dad…

We have no concern for our dignity during birth, illness, then the end of life.

So…
Enjoy yourself.
Don’t fret over how you look.
Be silly.
Be kind.
Be respectful.
Live when you can.

Dignity is for job interviews.

Last night Pink Larkin hosted a Christmas dinner for many of my clients who live in Victoria Park and Grand Parade. Sit down meal with table service. The food and service was excellent. Lots of engagement.

Thanks for your generosity during this tough, cold Christmas season.

I was visiting the tent encampment in Lower Sackville when the winds picked up. Tents were blowing away, collapsing, and tearing apart.

This is what an emergency looks like. These people have nowhere else to go. They need safe, secure housing out of the elements.

It’s Australia, but the comments on housing in general in 🧵 tweets 11 onward are exactly the issue. If housing is a backbone of wealth generation in a society with no other REAL options, there will be housing insecurity.

Love this message of understanding and kindness from New South Wales Health - it happens to be about masks but speaks to general respect for those you live around and with. Thanks NSW Health !! We can all use a little reminder from time to time.

With COVID-19 cases increasing in the community, some people, including people at higher risk of severe illness, may choose to wear a mask to protect themselves, such as when in indoor settings or on public transport. Be kind and considerate of someone’s choice to wear a mask.
