Last week, I joined the Houston Association of Realtors HTOWN Day Luncheon and discussed programs that make Harris County a great place to live in. We had a great Q&A and discussed initiatives focusing on affordable housing, disaster resilience, public safety, & early childhood.

Had a great time hearing from our community on issues like public safety, economic development, infrastructure & health. We’re working on Harris County’s strategic plan & want to make sure it’s informed by the community. It’s so important to get feedback from constituents!

AG Paxton’s cruel & baseless lawsuit seeks to stop our anti-poverty program for qualifying families. He calls our program “Harris Handout,” disrespecting 1,928 low-income families for political gain. What about the “Paxton payouts” he gave lawyers during his impeachment trial?

HUGE WIN: Harris County approved a 100% property tax exemption for many childcare providers. We’ve invested millions to create high-quality slots, but financial hurdles persist for providers. Possible only w/collaboration– nonprofits, voters, City of Houston, State of TX, and us

At Court Tuesday, we tackled some big items:
• 100% property tax exemption for Childcare facilities
• Addressing pay equity in Harris County government
• Nearly $40M to create more than 675 affordable housing units

Tuesday, we adjourned court in honor of the Baltimore community who are reeling after the tragic bridge collapse. Sending prayers to the families and loved ones affected by this devastating incident.

Nationally, women earn 82 cents to every white man's dollar, but for Hispanic women, it's 57 cents. This disparity isn't just a statistic; it's a reality, even here in Harris County govt. From mysterious pay raises to a lack of transparency, it's evident that change is needed.

At Court, we passed a resolution in support of President Biden's Executive Order to advance women's health research & innovation! Too often, crucial data on women's health is overlooked. This order is a game-changer, especially for the 2M+ women in Harris County.
