Pearl stood in front of the rift, cold winds blowing past her; the cave was absolutely quiet nothing but the sounds of the buzzing of grumbot.

Pearl traced her fingers through the cold and sharp obsidian hoping, no praying that there is another way to connect worlds.

the first few weeks after the rift closed. Pearl and sausage communicated through sunny, but the sunny on pearl's side broke down and with no way to fix it the only way to communicate between worlds ended.

Pearl came here at the end of every week. She spent hours standing in front of the obsidian wall talking about her week even though she knew no one could hear her.

She kept coming back, running her hand through obsidian again and again in the hopes she could feel something and maybe they were still connected. Her hand had started to scar from the sharp obsidian. But she kept hoping maybe by a miracle the rift would open up.

Sometimes she would sit with her back to the rift and go on rambling, sometimes she would ask for advice but would get none. Unbeknownst to pearl, on the other side sausage, did the same, visiting the rift every week and pouring his heart out.

The staff of sanctuary was strong but ever since the rift closed it couldn’t jump to the hermitcraft.

Both of them longed to be with the other. They finally remembered each other, but too late now they were stuck with no way for them to ever meet again, but what they didn't know was just for today the universe was on their sides .

Pearl was getting ready to leave just as the rift started making noises. She turned towards the rift and saw it had started to open, she rushed close to the rift as she put her hand through the rift.
