The week after EGU EGU General Assemblies is always positively busy, not with final edits to posters or presentations, but busy with guests & friends that stop by on their ways home.
In 2024, we had Thoralf Dietrich from Universität Potsdam and Jon Procter from Massey University.
Yesterday, as part of a packed and exciting schedule, our Janine Birnbaum, Daniel Weller, Jackie Kendrick Jackie Kendrick and Paul Wallace Dr Paul Wallace had their presentations at #EGU2024 EGU EGU GMPV Division
Thank you, magma enthusiasts, for a fantastic week of discussions at the very forefront of our field in the inaugural #KMTsymposium2024 Universität München - our journey to build the first international Magma Observatory starts now!
Yan Lavallée makes his call to arms for Krafla Magma Testbed (KMT)
We couldn’t wrap up the #KMTsymposium2024 without a tour of our experimental labs, our Jackie Kendrick Jackie Kendrick, Yan Lavallée, Anthony Lamur Anthony Lamur and Betty Scheu explain the facilities Universität München
Our Betty Scheu delivers the final talk of the #KMTsymposium2024 on steam-driven #eruptions in #geothermal areas, with the example of the Viti crater at Krafla caldera for the Krafla Magma Testbed (KMT)
Our Jo Gottsmann presents his recent work on the Geodetic signature of thermal modulation of #magma in the context of energy production in the Krafla Magma Testbed (KMT) for the last day of the #KMTsymposium2024 here at Universität München 🌋
Bright and early, Ana Martinez Garcia, PhD candidate on the IMPROVE project University of Bristol Earth Sciences presents her work on crustal density for the last day at the #KMTsymposium2024 here at Universität München
Wrapping up a fantastic day of magma-energy-science at the #KMTsymposium2024 our Yan Lavallée presents the state of the art on #magma vesiculation as part of his European Research Council (ERC) project MODERATE towards the goals of the Krafla Magma Testbed (KMT)
Next up this afternoon, our Janine Birnbaum shows her work on magma vesiculation as part of the European Research Council (ERC) project MODERATE at the #KMTsymposium2024 with big implications for drilling into magma in the Krafla Magma Testbed (KMT)
This afternoon at the #KMTsymposium2024 we have more speakers from our research group at Universität München - kicking off with Marize Muniz da Silva on the storage conditions of the rhyolitic magma at Krafla caldera
This may be our largest group photo yet!
