A military assault on Rafah would be an unbearable escalation, killing thousands more civilians & forcing hundreds of thousands to flee.

It would have a devastating impact on Palestinians in Gaza, with serious repercussions on the occupied West Bank & across the wider region.

I am deeply alarmed by reports of mass graves in Gaza.

Independent investigators must be allowed immediate access.

The families of the dead have a right to know what happened.

Today is the day.

Today is the opportunity for the PM and all State leaders to demonstrate that the safety of women is a major government priority.

They all have the solutions and recommendations before them already

'What should we do to end male violence against women?'.

In Australia, our sector's experts have been providing research-based and survivor-informed recommendations for years.

The practical solutions are there.

Just implement them.

In Australia, a lot of things can kill you. But one group of killers is not like the others.

Deaths caused per year:

It’s an insult to women to watch political leaders pretending they’re doing all they can to end male violence a/g women when they know every year tens of thousands of women are turned away right now from women’s refuges/emergency housing/legal services because of lack of funding

To men trying to gaslight women by saying male violence against women is on the decrease we have had 20 more women killed by male violence than at the same time last year.

20 more.

Catching up with this but it is well worth a read from Jess Hill - about her work with Michael Salter - prevention is not enough. The point about regulating a tech/social media sector that promotes and enables male violence against women is a huge issue. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

30 women have been killed in Australia this year.

That's more than 2 a week.

It is a national emergency.

Men's violence against women is a men's issue.

We need to step up, take responsibility, drive social change & ensure women are safe in our country.

If you are experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence, it can be a good idea to cautiously and safely keep a record of abuse or violence.

This can be used as evidence if you ever need to make a police report, get a protection order, or seek custody of children.

We can do more than tell men to 'step up'. We need to fix the legal system so that survivors have a fair chance of getting justice. That would send a real message. And it is possible.

We need to talk about Independent Sexual Violence Advisers. 1/7

Nice work Michael Salter and Annabelle Daniel OAM. Very poignant words indeed about the little kids who never imagine growing up and hurting the ones they love. We need to heal boys and reduce risks across the board.

Including:
- More attention to organisational and structural change
- Focused attention to the masculinity-related drivers of DFSV
- Greater focus on masculinities and *sexual* violence

The release of our research led by Assoc/Prof Asher Flynn & Prof Anastasia Powell on perpetration of tech-based sexual harassment at work today is timely. We found this behaviour is often part of a pattern of sexual violence designed to humiliate, degrade & harm the victim tinyurl.com/4n8utpt7
