Laying the groundwork for grapes: This week, the sisters and farmers have been busy excavating trenches along measured contours for grape propagation and doing direct contouring to locate swales. These swales will help harvest water from the road and store it in the soil.

As part of our sustainable community development efforts, farmer-to-farmer facilitators have been trained at the FTC on how to form and manage saving and lending groups. Now they're putting their training into practice, as the new farmer groups begin contributing their shares.
