I've been looking for some Tatung Einstein manuals for a couple of years now. Fortunately a listing poppped up recently with the exact 4 books I wanted. Managed to get them for a sensible price. Result! All I need now is an Einstein....at a sensible price!

Since when did old 8/16/32-bit home computers become consoles? Some adverts on ebay and other places seem to using the term console for computers like the BBC Micro, Spectrum and even Amigas. Surely the keyboard tells you it's not a console?

May 1985. I was trying my best to be a techincal writer / journalist. I'd just finished my 'A' levels and was offered a job as an editorial assistant at Europress, a big computer magazine publisher. Here's a machine code monitor program I wrote for the 8-bit Atari, all in BASIC.

The BBC Micro version of Impossible Mission is one of the few games I protected where I put my address into the image. IIRC a couple of people did write to me. I wish I'd kept those letters! I haven't lived at that address for over 30 years so don't bother writing now!

A letter from Gary Bracey at Ocean Software confirming the tape protection work they wanted me to start for the BBC Micro version of Impossible Mission. The protection was designed to make tape to disk transfer tricky for the average user. Dated 8th August 1986.

How rude! Island Logic's Music System for the BBC Micro. It was really well put together. Sadly I have zero musical talent to compose anything decent with it.

I like the ORIC-1 Programming Manual that comes with the computer. It's not just about learning BASIC. I enjoyed the section on machine code programming, complete with its list of 6502 instructions and opcodes for each addressing mode.

Metal Gear Solid 2 in development. Great to see the PS2 Tool dev kits on some of the desks. In the UK we tended to put them on the floor to free up valuable desk space.

Decided to do a bit more disk archiving today. I came across this pre-release version of Superior Software's 'Grand Prix Construction Set' for the BBC Micro dated 2nd March 1987. I was also considering having a track editor for Crazee Rider, but didn't have time to implement it.
