Mary, Queen of Scots, was born this week and so I thought I'd celebrate by sharing the 1st page of THE PUZZLE RING, my novel in which she has a brief but vivid cameo. If you'd like to read more, you can buy it here:

Christina Rossetti was born #onthisday - 5th December 1830, in London.
I've chosen one of her most joyful poems to share with you today, but if you'd like to see her darker side, read Goblin Market, an eerie phantasy of love, desire, temptation and magical seduction
Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and so I thought I would share an article I wrote for The Sydney Morning Herald on the secret struggle that I share with Marilyn Monroe.

I went out to lunch the other day with my dear friend Sarah at Graze at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Such a fabulous meal, with great food, great company & a great view. And Bellinis on a Tuesday! So decadent.

William Blake was #bornonthisday 28 November 1757, in London. He was artistic & mystical from a young age - when he was 8, for example, he saw a tree filled with angels, their luminescent wings shining like stars from its boughs.
I have loved his art & poetry all my life.
My book matches my skirt today! I’m on the ferry, on my way out to lunch in the city - reading A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik & wearing a H&M Morris & Co snakeshead skirt - a perfect sartorial match 😊
Ever want to let books be your travel guide? We've planned a sumptuous itinerary to Greece next year with Dr Kate Forsyth from a curated list of her favourite books about Greece + its myths. Here's a taste of the tour's literary salons we'll enjoy to enhance the literary experience.
Finished it, loved it! I want the next in the series now 😊
Big congratulations to @alisongoodmanauthor for a fabulous read 👏👏👏

Are you a daydreamer too?
Have you ever been mocked for it?
In this essay, I argued #daydreaming is a crucial function of a creative and innovative mind ... and that we should all be making it a mindful daily practice.

One of my all-time favourite children’s authors is Frances Hodgson Burnett, author of ‘The Secret Garden’. She was born on 24 November 1849 & so I'm celebrating her today on my #writingjournal :

Ellen Terry’s famous ‘beetle wing’ dress was designed for her by esteemed costumier Alice Comyns Carr & first worn on stage in Dec 1888. Meant to invoke fear, the addition of 1000 beetlewing cases created the effect of scales. Restored from 2006-2011. #LegendaryWednesday
