I wrote this piece reflecting on the pure luck of being born in Australia, where I get access to a well resourced health system. The gratitude and guilt of this fact hit home recently when my daughter's life was saved by an incredible medical team.

One of the privileges of being a teacher is that years on your students still remember you (and get in contact!). We must do our best to teach in a way that the memory is a fond one.
