Our ancestors couldn't do much about them, but our situation today is different — and so I think we should learn this history lesson and reduce the risk of pandemics.

Very complex case that arguably benefited from the open scrutiny of the trial process. I think they'll be teaching this incredibly tragic case (for both families involved) in law and police schools for decades to come.

Dad recently spent a month at the Halifax Infirmary. the provincial director of infection prevention and control told me they 'discourage' HEPA purifiers because 'they can generate air currents that may lead to the spread of pathogens'. I have no faith in our leaders and systems.

Nothing is impossible. My closest friends are all people who would have been ancestral enemies in the Old World. That's the blessing of living in a multicultural society... and something hopefully the Israelis and Palestinians will get to enjoy as well in the future.

The absolute worst people on this planet are having a full blown meltdown right now and if that does not bring you hope or a little bit of joy, I can't help you.
