I've been thinking for a while that one of the problems with disability rep in media is that abled people are a) used to traditional disability narratives and b) unfamiliar with the way those can feel to disabled people. So: a thread on problematic disability tropes to watch for!

Yelena Rachitsky 🌟 I wish VR had more interdisciplinary collaborations between architects, neuroscientists, industrial designers, filmmakers, game designers, web developers, theater makers, and writers. We need more opportunities to fuse together all of these different design disciplines.

Just talked to an old museum coworker who ran VR instillations at #USHMM—we started with cardboard & Samsung Gears. That was my first touchpoint to VR. Oculus Go's were their next stepping stone for exhibitions. With the Quest pricepoint, he fears they may lose their footing.

among the reasons I use large pre-trained language models sparingly in my computer-generated poetry practice is that being able to know whose voices I'm speaking with is... actually important, as is being understanding how the output came to have its shape (long thread sorry)
