Triple digit heat this weekend, however a slow downward trend in the temperatures as the big heat dome diminishes and a stronger cold front arrives towards the end of next week. High temperatures will be below average for late August and Labor Day weekend.

Isolated storms have developed across south-central Kansas across Sumner and Sedgwick Counties. Brief heavy downpours and frequent lightning strikes can be expected as these storms slowly drift to the north at 5-10 mph. No severe weather is expected this morning.

Scattered storms will begin to diminish by 10-11am across south-central Kansas, however more storms are possible later today across parts of central and western Kansas. An isolated strong storm or two may produce wind gusts to 60 mph later today.

Nice start to the labor day weekend across Kansas with clear skies and temperatures in the 50s and 60s. Under sunny skies across Kansas temperatures are expected to reach the 80s each afternoon, with the coolest day during the long weekend to be Labor Day. tinyurl.com/bddxk8kb

The wind hasn't been too crazy this Summer, that's getting ready to change this week. South winds will be increasing each day with gusts 30-40 mph becoming common by mid-week (especially across western Kansas).
