Walking around First Fridays & I'm even more proud of the work KC Tenants put into helping to maintain the culture of the crossroads district. This place is beautiful. The art, the people, the vibes. All perfect.
Lol I can't believe they tried to convince ppl this area was dead.
THE PEOPLE HAVE WON IN KANSAS CITY!
Folks in KC showed up to the polls and defeated a billionaire tax on their communities. 📣 A reminder to all of us that when we organize, we win! 💪🏽
S/O to KC Tenants
KC voters rejected a sales tax that would’ve gone to the Chiefs & Royals stadium plans- part of what might be larger trend of Americans souring on public $ for private teams.
Eric Fisher: “Fans are really smart…there's access to a lot of information.”
KC Tenants was clear from the start, all the way back to 2022. Paying for a billionaire’s gentrification fever dream was not inevitable, even though people across every spectrum told us to go after scraps “cause you can’t win against that kind of money.” We took on the challenge.
A huge shoutout to KC Tenants who helped lead the charge against this billionaire giveaway.

Good morning Jackson County! To all the haters who doubted KC Tenants and told us we’d lose yesterday, a brief message:
Jamila Michener argues that health justice is about building and breaking power. This vote was a beautiful example of how KC Tenants broke power. And their union is building power faster than you can see. There is hope.
This is what Michael Savwoir, 1 of the union leaders for KC Tenants, told FOX4 News Kansas City: “Two billion dollars in taxpayers money, man, could do a hell of a lot to develop our community. The billionaires don’t finance my follies. Why should I finance theirs?'
KC Tenants This is fantastic news. Billionaires can build their own stadiums. It’s their business, they should pay their own bills. Billionaires don’t need Welfare Checks.
This is what power looks like! Shout out to KC Tenants and Jackson County voters for preventing this sales tax to subsidize billionaire owners of the Kansas City Chiefs
We were outspent 50:1* and we won. Billionaires can’t buy Kansas City, billionaires can’t extort the people. Not with KC Tenants, the 10,000-member tenant union fighting back 😌
