I was fortunate enough to begin my TV career on Newsnight, & last night we had a reunion at TVC (class of the 90's). Peter Snow gave a terrific speech, reflecting on a different era in broadcasting. I owe a lot to those inspiring & creative NN people that set me on my way in TV.

My successor as Env Min has said that he is 'ambivalent' about Jersey developing offshore wind. Here's a video that plays a thought experiment; what would have happened if we'd discovered oil off Corbiere 50 years ago? And explores why that is relevant to offshore wind today.

An eg of manipulation in John Constable's 'briefing'. When discussing economics of offshore wind vs fossil fuels, he mentioned operating costs & capital costs, but not fuel costs. Why? Because the main advantage of wind is zero fuel costs. Whereas fossil fuel costs are high.

Just been to John Constable 'briefing' on renewables. Top take homes. No mention of risks of climate change. All fossil fuels should be burnt (8-10 deg's of warming). The time may be right to restart coal fired power generation in the UK. Renewables = societal collapse.
