Nov 13, 1962 - John Coltrane recorded at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, NJ with McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin Jones. The session became the album “Ballads” released just a few months later in 1963.

Nov 3, 1961 - John Coltrane played the Village Vanguard in NYC with Eric Dolphy, McCoy Tyner, Reggie Workman, Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones. The recording, entitled “Spiritual” was released the following February on the LP “Live” at the Village Vanguard.
