A student's project showed that conservatives feel campus is less inclusive than liberals. I asked how they interpreted the result, but they said they were too scared to comment on anything political.
I tried to encourage them that it was safe, but they didn't engage. It was sad.

Really enjoyed watching Dr. Anna Brown's inaugural lecture with the lab today. We got to learn about research but also the person behind the research. From baby to full professor. I learned Anna did her PhD later in life, after developing an interest at work in IRT!

JK Flake 📈📏 Measures and theories take a long time to die. Herzberg's two-factor theory of job satisfaction is still used/taught as fact despite lots of disconfirming evidence.

Even when someone actually cites your paper which clearly concludes a measure should not be used (PSS-4), it is apparently possible to ignore this and claim that our paper supports the use of the scale: pubpeer.com/publications/3…

One of the most cited measures of SES is Hollingshead’s scale from 1975. I always had trouble with its scoring simply because either some jobs in the measure are now obsolete or no longer exist, or some contemporary jobs are not represented. Yet we’re still using it.
