Our aim is to determine the molecular mechanisms by which tissue confinement controls cell behavior, particularly as it relates to the progression of cancer.

Analyze_Blebs, our image analysis tool is now published: journals.plos.org/plosone/articl… The tool can be downloaded from GitHub: github.com/karlvosatka/an… Amazing work from our former Research Technician, Karl Vosatka!

Today, we received an NOA for our MIRA (R35), thank you NIGMS (@NIGMS) for supporting our work. Looking forward to what we will learn about cancer and immune cell migration in confined environments over the next few years (Albany Med Health System).

Happy to share our newest pre-print, we demonstrate that Piezo1/Ca2+ activates INF2 to induce de-adhesion and amoeboid migration in confined environments: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

During the tail end of her PhD in the lab, Maria Ullo (Maria Ullo) showed that THP-1 monocyte-like cells adopt an amoeboid mode of migration in confining channels, which requires cofilin-1: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

We've added important new data to our recent pre-print (biorxiv.org/content/10.110…). While cells in confinement without INF2 firmly adhere to the micropattern, cells with INF2 will cross over the micropatterns using fast amoeboid (leader bleb-based) migration:
