Correct. His 2026 and 2027 salaries ($35 million each year) are not guaranteed. It’s understandable why Falcons wouldn’t want to say this out loud but, well, they kinda did by drafting Penix.

Kyle makes the obvious valid points here except for this: I don’t think Penix is sitting for “4-5 years.” I think Falcons’ plan is for Cousins to play two seasons.

I’m guessing that was their desire but not sure what trade market was in this round. Seems like there has been a lack of movement in that area.

Hah. Well I like Penix and l like the short term/long term plan aspect of this at QB. But like others, I struggle with guaranteeing $100 million to Cousins if this was the plan. It’s a strange strategy when it comes to asset spending.
