I’ve been ploughing through one of my all-time faves. CHILDREN OF THE STONES (1977) stands up so incredibly well. Still unbelievably creepy and unpatronisingly complex. The score rewires my brain so my body is permanently on edge. We need to make shows like this again!

This part vexed me the most: 'Yates noted that debuts today tend to cost around £3M whereas that number was only £1.5M a few years ago.'

There are so many incredible filmmakers here, that could make 3 quality films (or more) for £3m. Alice is totally right.

'it takes £3M to make a first feature'. does it?! feel like there are quite a few filmmakers who'd happily make a film for less than that but they don't get a chance

So I’ve just started the new one from the master Paul Tremblay and I feel like he has written it just for me. It’s the feeling every great book invokes. Thank you for the advanced copy Paul, I’m already scared! It’s out in June and I’ll report back when I’ve finished!
