Everyone should care about land reform. Mindful it is not the easiest subject to attract readers so we don’t see much of it in the press but that’s why this episode is key to get a better understanding of the new Land Reform bill 👇🏻

Great to chat to Ariane Burgess about land reform at this crucial time!

The Bill is understandably a key focus, but worth noting there’s a lot more to Scotland’s land reform journey and Scottish Land Commission’s work!

Yes it does.

67D prohibits the transfer of land if it would result in the same or connected parties owning more than one of the lots specified.

So where land is lotted it cannot be snapped up by one controlling entity no matter the stretch of their chequebook…

New (longread) blog post by me, on the recently introduced Land Reform (Scotland) Bill. This Bill affects large land holdings of over 1,000ha (or in one case over 3,000ha) and changes the law around rural tenancies. basedrones.wordpress.com/2024/03/26/lan…

Looks like an important resource from arguably the leading institution in community landownership research. It's only through knowing what you know that you can start to address what you don't know.
