Morning sessions on Day 2 of the National Press Foundation Women in Politics fellowship packed powerful insights from former Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.) and Delegate Del. J. Peña-Melnyk (D-Md.) Lived experience matters, and these women warned against one-dimensional reporting.

I attended Brem Foundation Empower Hour event discussing prevention of Breast Cancer. I ran into MD Del.Del. J. Peña-Melnyk who is a great nursing advocate and able to speak with Brem’s founder Dr. Rachel Brem. Nursing continues to support the wonderful work they do for patients.

Black women die at a 41% higher rate of breast cancer than white women. Thank you Del. Alston for HB 1259 and MD Black Caucus. This is a health equity bill which extends coverage for follow-up diagnostic tests after initial screening for breast cancer & lung cancer. MD House Democrats
