There is no perfect path I can imagine. But some paths are better than others. If you look back and see you made a wrong turn or two, you might be able to correct course.

Maybe you decide boozing was a bad choice. Or maybe you realize unleashing nuclear hell on Japs was wrong.

Listening to NPR and imagining what would happen if the public forced them to bring in real hard right intellectuals.

Even if that didn't change a single mind, the entertainment value would be worth it. NPR's lispy, femmed out hosts would be reduced to squeaks and sputters.
