The irony of academia: preaching about diversity and inclusion while maintaining a system that favors the privileged and excludes the marginalized.

DEI is not affirmative action.
Affirmative action was banned by SCOTUS.

That opponents of DEI call it “Didn’t Earn It” tells you everything many Black/Brown students are hearing now:
that they don’t belong; that they are not entitled to the FREEDOM TO LEARN at our TX colleges.

In the face of the continuing war on 'woke', the time has come for us to build our own infrastructure to save our hard-fought civil rights advances, and any prospect we have for a multiracial democracy.

Academia is strange. Get enough publications in the right journals and you'll be allowed to lead a team. No one checks whether you have the skills to lead a team, of course, why would they? You've published in journals. This should work out just fine.

White men make up 30% of the population, control 93% of venture capital funds, and give only 1% to Black-owned companies. That’s legal.

But if a Black woman tries to help other Black women who have been denied venture capital dollars, that’s illegal.

This is why I laughed at the idea of a racial reckoning in 2020. Since then, they’ve been waiting for the get-back because they have such deep-seated resentment toward being forced into any level of accountability.

The racist coward literally went to a Historically Black University to kill Black students. Got stopped. Then redirected his hatred, racism and violence to a local store where he told all the non-Black people to get out and then proceeded to kill Black People.

Boys and young men coercing girls and young women into sex: 'We need to move beyond thinking “what if this was our daughter?” and start considering “what if this was our son?” Parents must talk to their sons about consent - earlier, and more explicitly. smh.com.au/national/nsw/p…

When the NAACP declared “the state of Florida has become hostile to Black Americans” and issued a formal travel advisory, DeSantis’s office called it “nothing more than a stunt.”

That was May. Yesterday, a white supremacist murdered three Black people in a Florida store.

The Nazi who callously slaughtered 3 Black people was institutionalized cuz he was a harm to himself & others

YET he was able to easily acquire an AR-15

Meanwhile, innocent women & girls have to travel hundreds of miles out of state just to get an abortion

Make this make sense

We have hateful rhetoric coming out of the mouths of politicians in Florida from the highest levels every day. From the governor to the former president, it is hate against Black history, hate against wokeness, hate against trans people, hate against immigrants. 1/7
