The third and final day of #OceanDecade24 focused on the human dimensions of #ocean science

The meeting produced its Barcelona Statement, which has priorities on:

• knowledge generation
• infrastructure needs
• inclusion of all knowledge systems

Impressive moment at #OceanDecade24 : @HaakonVatle, Leader of the #OneOceanExpedition that sailed around the world for #OceanScience and education, introduces a surprise element by inviting everyone present to jointly sing a traditional shanty, amended to honor the UN Ocean Decade.

#OceanDecade24 session on the human dimension: Ken Paul, Pokiok Associates, shared the perspective of shifting away from fear-based language, encouraging “respecting' rather than 'protecting' marine spaces to better interact with our Ocean. UN Ocean Decade UNESCO Ocean

Experts at #OceanDecade24 advocated tackling production as well as consumption patterns when building a resilient #blueeconomy

They also explored nature-based solutions for coastal resilience and debated how to engage industry partners in data sharing
