It’s CDC Fungal Disease Awareness Week! No 1 fungal genus (>300 in 2021) sent to #NRZMyk is Aspergillus: Most cases are caused by A. fumigatus but ~10 other species are frequently found. Evolving azole resistance and ICU-COVID associated aspergillosis are major concerns!

CDC fungal awareness week: No 2 genus at #NRZMyk is Candida: DYK it comprises species that are phylogenetically far apart? Beside the clinical frontrunner C. albicans, resistant C. glabrata and spread of C. auris (image) are in the focus – these 3 are only distantly related!
