But haters eventually move on to other things. The path was clear to move this forward and look at it today. And before yโ€™all @ me about the traffic, thereโ€™s road construction happening just out of frame.

Story time, kids! Come close.

This is a protected bike lane on I St SE in DC. In 2016 I lived on this block. The original configuration had car parking at the curb and painted bike lanes.

'One of the biggest impediments to maximizing [transit] service is that most systems still revolve around office buildings...One fix would be for cities to redevelop their downtowns to be more residential...itโ€™s a critical step'

'The Atlanta Braves' home stadium ranks 13 out of 30 MLB stadiums for walkability'

There's walkable, and then there's what Unplanned Atlanta calls 'strollable'.

Yes you can stroll around inside the Battery once you're there. But no, this isn't a walkable place.

The highest density of light rail & heavy rail stops in Atlanta is in Downtown, but only a small amount of land near them is populated.

It's not surprising info but seeing it mapped is impressive & should make us think about making the best use of our investments in rail.

Unplanned Atlanta My grandfather was a motorman on Atlantaโ€™s trolley system. The provisioning objective was that, if you missed one, you could hear the bell of the next one.

'This city used to be crisscrossed with streetcars that went far more places than MARTA currently does. The biggest mistake Atlanta ever made was tearing out that existing system in favor of the automobile.'

Been trying to keep gears turning w/ a quick sketch each morning. Hereโ€™s a concept for a new commercial building on property where a chunk of unused ROW on the street corner could be reimagined as public space to support new tenants.
