Dr. Gaspard checked on Kwitonda group in Volcanoes NP, Rwanda. The group was in overall good health. Silverback Karibu (pic 1) had a healing wound on his forehead but he was active & unimpaired. Dr. Gaspard also noted tension among the 3 blackbacks & some minor wounds on all 3.

Dr. Adrien captured these wonderful photos during his recent health check of Hirwa group in Volcanoes NP, Rwanda. He observed 13 of 17 mountain gorillas in good health. The remaining 4 were obscured by dense vegetation. Sometimes our 'patients' just don't want to cooperate! 🙃

On a health check, Dr. Gaspard found silverbacks Turakomeje(L) & Icumbi(R) huddling together in the rain. Dr. Gaspard was trying to see on an abscess on Icumbi's jaw but as you can see, our patient was not cooperating! 😂 His activity was normal but we'll keep an eye on him.

Dr. Lina conducted a health check of Bonane group, a family of #criticallyendangered Grauer's gorillas in Kahuzi-Biega NP, DRC. The 10 gorillas were in overall good health, including curious little Youssoupha, who just turned one-year-old in March! 😍🦍 #gorilladoctors

Dr. Ricky conducted a check of Katooma, a 3.5yo mountain gorilla, Nkuringo group, Bwindi Impenetable NP, Uganda. Dr. Ricky observed a slight browning of her coat (possible sign of parasites) but she was active, feeding & alert. We will continue monitoring. #gorilladoctors

Happy Friday! Dr. Ricky did a health check of Bitukura group in Bwindi Impenetrable NP, Uganda. He observed all 14 mountain gorillas in good health. All 3 silverbacks had some minor cuts but nothing serious. This group also has 3 infants including little Tangaara in the photo.

Dr. Ricky checked on Dunia, a juvenile mountain gorilla in Kutu group, Bwindi Impenetrable NP, Uganda. She was limping & had several minor wounds on her body. Fortunately, she was feeding & active and none of the wounds showed signs of infection. We will keep a close eye on her.
